This piece was produced for Habitat for HumanityInternational as part of the campaign leading to the 2009 Jimmy and Roslynn Carter Work Project - The Mekong Build. 

Two pieces were produced on the Dao family. One on the whole family and this piece focusing on Huong.

The young girl is hopeful she can be a tailor some day breaking the cycle of work on the river fishing her family has had for 3 generations.   • Dao Thi Huong sits scrunched as her family's boat plies the murky water of Vietnam’s Thai Binh River. Huong's family has been fishing for generations but she hopes to break the cycle with education and a new home being built as part of Habitat for Humanity International's 2009 Jimmy and Roslynn Carter Work Project.
  • After the sun goes down the only source of light on Dao Thi Huong's boat is a single bulb. The family eats and sleeps on the 70 square foot boat. Huong lives with her grandparents to be able to go to school.
